The Alloy School is a noncompetitive and creative community where professional dancers guide learning. The whole family can enjoy Alloy School’s diverse range of classes including Hip-Hop, West African, Ballet, Creative Movement, and Capoeira. The Alloy School will take place in-person at KST’s Alloy Studios. Students and Teaching Artists will be masked for the entirety of the class and distanced when possible until further notice. Classes have been programmed by PearlArts with their expertise in dance forms and educational practices.
Creative Movement (ages 3-4) 9:00am – 9:45am
Class will begin with a short visual meditation followed by movement games and prompts to inspire imagination.

Ballet (ages 7-12) 9:00am – 9:55am
This class will put a fun spin on a traditional Ballet format. With a focus on posture and body alignment, exercises will be added to help strengthening and stretching. Center movement and small combinations will be added as the class progresses. Instructed by LaTrea Derome.
Ballet / Creative Movement (ages 5 – 6) 10:00am – 10:55am
Class will begin with a short visual meditation followed by movement games and prompts to inspire imagination. With a focus on posture and body alignment, exercises will be added to help strengthening and stretching. Center movement and small combinations will be added as the class progresses.

Hip-Hop (ages 7-12) 10:00am – 10:55am
Hip-hop is a high-energy class that combines the styles of breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Instructed by LaTrea Derome.
Capoeira (all ages) 11:00am – 11:55am
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazlian martial art which was created in secret by enslaved peoples, disguised as a dance and performed to music. This unique and acrobatic form helps to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and improvisation skills. Instructed by José Pérez IV.
West African (all ages) 11:00am – 12:00pm
This class will guide you through the fundamentals of traditional West African dance, with an emphasis on drums and accompanying drum rhythms. Classes start with a warm-up, followed by a sequence of movements across the floor. Instructed by Chrisala Brown.
