Pricing Philosophy
“How much does it cost?” is usually the first question we hear from potential renters, and we totally understand! To be honest, we can’t give you an exact answer until we know more details about your event. No two events are the same and our team works hard to tailor a rental package that will best suit your event and budget. The size and scale of your event, timing, hours, equipment, and how many staff will be needed all factor in when we prepare your rental quote.

Q: How long should I plan in advance?
A: To ensure we can provide the best services, including staffing and marketing support, we recommend planning your rental at least six weeks in advance. Please keep in mind that the contract process can take up to four weeks, and this timeline does not include additional steps like marketing, production meetings, or staff scheduling. The earlier you reach out, the better we can accommodate your needs!
Q: What is the capacity for each of your spaces?
A: Kelly Strayhorn Theater has a seating capacity of 347. The theater’s lobby can accommodate up to 125 people for cocktail style events. KST’s Alloy Studios Downstairs is an excellent choice for smaller performances or private events with with seating for 70 and space for up to 100 for cocktail-style gatherings The Upstairs Studio is ideal for private rehearsals or smaller classes, comfortably accommodating 25-30 dancers.

Q: Can I bring my own catering if I rent from you?
A: Absolutely! You are welcome to bring your own prepared catering with advance notice. Neither venue is equipped to accommodate food preparation onsite and depending on your event set-up, staging room may be limited.

Q: I want to host a public event. Can I use my choice of ticketing services?
A: KST holds exclusive rights to all ticketing and registration for events. As such, the use of external services like Eventbrite is not permitted. We are happy to offer a full-service box office that includes advance and at-door ticket sales,and event staffing. Our team handles all patron inquiries for your and provides detailed event reporting during and after sales are completed. We ensure your ticketing process runs smoothly from start to finish.
Q: I just filled out the Rental Form, when will I hear back?
A: Our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 6 PM. It may take 3-5 business days for our rental team to respond after you’ve submitted the form. We appreciate your patience and will get back to you as soon as possible!
