FRESHWORKS RESIDENCY
Choreographer and dancer Trevor Miles collaborates with visual artist and VJ Julie Mallis to explore the escalating opioid crisis, and especially its impact on youth. During a month-long creative residency, they delve into this real-world crisis, and create a dark fairytale for our time, one that follows a teenager’s first foray into use of heavy narcotics. With rapid-fire computer-generated imagery, Mallis immerses the dancers in a Grimm-like forest, while Miles’ evocative choreography asks: What can be uncovered in this place?
