Project Silk presents the inaugural Rebirth Kiki Ball at KST’s historic lobby! Project Silk is a program for queer folks serving as a resource that is community-first, nurturing, and informed. The programming happens at the QMNTY Center in collaboration with TransYOUniting and Proud Haven. These organizations serve trans and queer folks, primarily people of color and primarily youth and young adults. A Kiki Ball is an event that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community through performance, fashion, and creativity. Kiki balls are inspired by the historical Ballroom community but are more accessible and less competitive for youth and young adults. In addition, the Kiki scene is a welcoming space for all.

The Kiki scene originated in New York circa 2000s. Like mainstream ballroom, participants compete in categories such as Runway, Vogueing, Best Dressed, and more. Kiki balls may include educational programming that highlights LGBTQIA+ history. It is a place for us to cheer, clap, and celebrate our individuality with each other. On this night, Rebirth Kiki Ball will have DJ Pillz pumping the beats,
