“The evening felt significantly more bold … with work that ranged from technical to theatrical and, in some cases, an impressive blend of both.” —Coal Hill Review
11th Festival Edition
KST’s newMoves Contemporary Dance Festival shines a spotlight on contemporary dance and on new and established talent here and outside of the region. Launched in 2009, the festival plays a vital role in the local dance scene by fostering new works and connections and encouraging choreographers to take creative risks. Most of the works are new projects in development and/or are produced by early-career artists. Audiences get the opportunity to hear innovative voices while artists share their work with a rich peer network. The performances, artist talks, master classes and symposia are designed to expand the minds of participants as KST provides a platform for contemporary dance practices.
Past festivals have introduced new works by some of Pittsburgh’s favorite dance artists, including Sidra Bell (NYC), Kyle Abraham (NYC), Marjani Forté (NYC), Staycee Pearl (Pittsburgh), slowdanger (Pittsburgh), and many more.
