Nandanik Dance Troupe is proud to present Shyama as part of our 10th anniversary. Shyama – The Royal Courtesan was written and composed by our famous Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore of India. It is an intricate tale of passion, love, guilt and sacrifice that reflects Tagore’s artistic and philosophical response to the turbulent time before the India’s Independence.
This is a musical dance drama production, directed and choreographed by Nandini Mandal who is a renowned dancer and teacher of various Indian dance styles. She was trained under the well known legendary guru Dr.Sonal Mansingh, as well as other great Indian teachers. Nandini has also been involved with providing lectures and demonstrations, as the public outreach program on the arts of Indian dance to schools, colleges, etc. mostly within the Greater Pittsburgh area. This event will enthrall you with colorful sight, beautiful music, and fascinating dance movements from a rich cultural heritage of India.
