Hector: Lost Souls with Switchblades

A Short Film. Modern day hooligans who style themselves as a Retro 50s gang bully a loner who shows up at their bar. Pompadours, vintage cars, tattoos and booze surround the switchblade toting hoodlum, the sexy risk taking girl he wants and the mysterious gender bending stranger named Hector, as they battle over love and territory. Hector stars Kiyomi McClosky of the Showtime reality series, The Real LWord and the band Hunter Valentine, with Jose Maldonado of Sweet & Tender Hooligans as Floyd the Bartender.

A Latino barber secretly falls in love with a handsome Irish stranger over the course of a cut during a hot and sweaty summer afternoon in a macho Brooklyn hood.

Now in its sixth season, My People: A Film Series in Color explores the lives and experiences of LGBTQ people of color with award-winning films, performances, and discussion. Inspired by Billy Strayhorn’s life, My People connects the rich history and contributions made by generations of LGBTQ people of color.
