A Patient Practice: Lesson Map 001

KST Presents

Do you remember the mentors who guided you? The places that shaped you? As a part of A Patient Practice, an ongoing project centering intergenerational conversation, play, and study, artist Jasmine Hearn is proud to present their newest installation piece, Lesson Map 001. Hearn uses textiles, textures, and poetry to create a map of remembered lessons in collaboration with their teachers and mentors over the years.

The ephemera will be arranged in one of the windows facing Penn Avenue and available to be viewed Wednesday, July 28 through Saturday, August 28. Pass by KST’s Alloy Studios to experience this deeply personal, yet universally familiar window art display.

A Patient Practice culminates with an open studio showing on August 28 at 7:00pm, continuing Hearn’s conversation with Bekezela Mguni, Kiki Lucas, and  Staycee Pearl. Tickets coming soon.

Interdisciplinary Dance Artist Jasmine Hearn is currently in residence at KST with A Patient Practice. A Patient Practice circles Hearn back to communities and organizers that helped build their artistic practice and career. During the residency, Hearn and mentors will build a score together that is rooted in various disciplines consisting of recipes, lists, poems, songs, and/ or dances, which will also be shared with local communities.
