The Choice is a powerful dance-theater work exploring the complex reproductive health challenges faced by African American women. Motherhood, child loss, bodily autonomy, and societal expectations collide in this intimate performance. Through evocative movement and spoken word, a diverse cast brings to life the emotional and physical realities of navigating difficult decisions—often in isolation or within unsupportive relationships.
Choreographed by Rickia Davenport, The Choice blends contemporary, hip-hop, and modern dance with compelling visuals, crafting a deeply personal yet universal story of struggle, resilience, and hope. This experience invites audiences to reflect, empathize, and connect, opening space for vital conversations about motherhood, autonomy, and shared responsibility.
