Presented by the Black Transformative Arts Networks, this production will involve a town hall where youth will gather with panelists to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the arts community in Pittsburgh, an exhibition and sale of art pieces, opportunities to fellowship and network, and finally, closing with performances by over 20 young artists. The focus of this experience is the creative and cultural expression of the city’s field of youth artists, as we experience time for unification, community building, and the healing energy of the creative force.

The Black Transformative Arts Network (BTAN) is a growing body of Pittsburgh-based (and beyond) Black teaching artists, creatives, educators, parents and caregivers centering Black/Africana creative arts practices in the holistic, cultural education of Black youth of all ages. BTAN is a “for us, by us” entity that emerged from the 8 years of work of the Heinz Transformative Arts Process (TAP).
