Agape / Control Tops – FlucT
Fluct is the collaborative work of Monica Mirabile and Sigrid Lauren addressing issues in the capital obedience of American culture through choreography and performance. FlucT creates original narrative soundscapes linking a manipulated pop music psychosis with violently intimate dance. FlucT has performed at the Queens Museum and MOMA Ps1, with solo exhibition at Platform Gallery. They produce their own large scale choreographed productions [Solar Solipsis,TransValue, ModelHome], collaborate with touring musicians including Pictureplane and MNDR, as well as run Otion Front Studio, a performance/dance space in Bushwick, NY. Fluct’s work has been reviewed by the New York Times, Vice’s Creators Project, Purple Magazine, among others.
Children of the Lost – Lisa E. Harris
An experimental new opera film with live performance. This short film and performance is about gentrification, displaced youth, and metaphysical reality in the historic Third Ward district of Houston, Texas. This semi-silent film is musically narrated live by new opera singer Lisa Harris, the writer, director and composer.
New opera / composer, performer, filmmaker, singer/ songwriter, writer, educator, community organizer, environmental transformist and Mother Earth advocate, Lisa E Harris is an artist of exceptional breadth and talent. She was the 2015 recipient of acclaimed Valiante Award – given to artists and activists who reflect the organization’s passionate commitment to speaking out and inciting social change through art. (Past recipients include Mel Chin, Ruben Martinez, Bapsi Sidhwa, Patti Smith.) Harris has performed in the 52nd Venice Biennial, Museum of Modern Art (NYC), the 2012 Los Angeles Biennial with collaborator Kenyatta C. Hinkle’s Kentifrica, and the 2012 Whitney Biennial. She is the founder of Studio Enertia, a mixed media production company, with longstanding collaborator Alisha B. Wormsley with sister branches in Pittsburgh and Brooklyn.
