Adil Mansoor :: Amm(i)gone

KST Presents

EVENT DETAILS
Saturday, August 17
8:00 pm / KST’s Alloy Studios
5530 Penn Ave

As part of a month-long residency at KST, Pittsburgh-based theater maker Adil Mansoor presents an in-process showing of his latest work. Amm(i)gone is an adaptation of Antigone as an apology to and from a mother. Creator and director Adil Mansoor explore queerness, the afterlife and obligation using Sophocles’ canonical text, teachings from the Quran and audio conversations with his mother to create an original performance locating love across faith. Amm(i)gone asks: Can prayer substantiate care? Can care manifest as artistic methodology and inquiry? Can Mansoor and his mother contend with Antigone’s fate?

Come witness a work-in-progress showing of selections from Amm(i)gone and join us for a post-show discussion.

Amm(i)gone is supported by the Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art @ the Frontier, the Point Foundation’s Andrew A. Isen INternship, The Swarm Artist Residency and Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
