Writer, vocalist and sound artist LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs, author of TwERK (Belladonna, 2013), leads an interactive workshop open to everyone who wants to explore contemporary poetics in practice. Co-founder and co-editor of Coon Bidness/SO4 magazine, Diggs has presented her interdisciplinary works at the Brooklyn Museum, the Poesiefestival Berlin, Museum of Modern Art, the QOW conference in Slovakia, the International Poetry Festival in Bucharest, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Walker Art Center and the 2015 Venice Biennale. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2016 Whiting Award for Poetry, and has curated and directed staged events at BAM Café, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, The Highline, Poets House and El Museo del Barrio.
This workshop is presented in conjunction with a program at Frick Fine Arts Auditorium on Wednesday, October 4, which includes readings by Renee Gladman and John Keene. Diggs will respond to the writers’ work in the form of a new sound piece, in collaboration with the “Afro-Electronica” composer/percussionist/
