Welcome to Exhalations Dance Theatre’s production of This Thing called LOVE! Exhalations Dance Theater is pleased to present their first performance of the season with original works, centered around the concept of love, created by talented young choreographers from the Pittsburgh region. EDT was founded to create performance and choreography opportunities for both professional dancers and those pursuing other careers who still desire to express their art. We embody the theory that life should never hinder a true love for dance. All of our members have trained for many years under different instructors throughout Pennsylvania; this allows us to sincerely represent an accurate, yet diverse look into the area’s ever-evolving dance community.
What is love? Am I loved? Do I love myself? Love has a variety of different feelings, elements, and attitudes that range from interpersonal affection, personal attachment, or pleasure. Making it almost impossible to define. Feelings can be irrational and sometimes deceptive. Possibly, what is perceive as love may in fact be another emotion. Love can also create a connection which is made stronger by accepting yourself, and allowing yourself to be honest and open with others. As something that is not concrete, the struggle of accepting love is a daily and universal confrontation. EDT’s dancers look to explore these emotions through their own perspectives of movement and physical storytelling; focusing on how these variety of states relate to different stages of love, situations, and circumstances.
