KST Presents

Presented by Kelly Strayhorn Theater

No Shade
Directed by Sean Anthony (22 min, 2013)

No Shade is a dramedy, based in NYC and follows the life of Noel Baptiste a socially awkward artist from Brooklyn who’s learning to be comfortable with his sexuality and slowly embrace his new attractions. Noel navigates his journey with the help of his three young, eccentric city dreaming friends; Eric D. Stone is the promiscuous bar manager who speaks his mind and answers his physical needs, Kori Jacobs is the homeless dance teacher and budding star of the ball community, and finally Danielle Williams is the hopeful, romantic transgender female who always seems to save the day. No Shade is centered around an LGBT cast yet speaks to the experiences of people of all walks of life.

Now in its sixth season, My People: A Film Series in Color explores the lives and experiences of LGBTQ people of color with award-winning films, performances, and discussion. Inspired by Billy Strayhorn’s life, My People connects the rich history and contributions made by generations of LGBTQ people of color.
