KST Presents

EVENT DETAILS
Tuesday, June 25, 2019
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm / KST Alloy Studios
5530 Penn Ave

Launched in 2015 by the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 1839 digital magazine returns to explore the intersection of race, politics, arts, community, and culture in Pittsburgh. In this space, writers and other artists in and from Pittsburgh will connect, provoke, enlighten and entertain.

The pilot launched with a dynamic creative team that included: Damon Young, author of What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker, Deesha Philyaw, and Sarah Young. 1839, in just a few months, built an impressive showing of work from Pittsburgh’s black creative community with a variety of essays on race and politics, photography, poetry, and creative non-fiction on a range of topics, current events, and pop-culture.

KST is re-launching this initiative, forming a new team, and seeking your submissions.
