Anthony Williams

Anthony Williams is a resident teaching artist at Kelly Strayhorn Theater who recently presented his work “Identity” at newMoves Contemporary Dance Festival 2013. He began his career as a performing artist in the role of the Scarecrow in the Chicago Black Ensemble’s production of “The Wiz,” working with Jackie Taylor and Rueban Echos. He has grown artistically through his work as an emerging artist with Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre (DRDT) under the direction of Kevin lega Jeff, and Gary Abbott. He has performed with August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble, Texture Contemporary Ballet, and Ballet Chicago. Anthony has studied with a range of master teachers and choreographers including Terrence Greene, Nathan Trice, Ray Mercer, Christopher Huggins, and former KST artists-in-residence Sidra Bell and Kyle Abraham, who is a 2013 MacArthur Fellow. Anthony continues his journey in Pittsburgh as a freelance dancing artist.
