    Kyle Abraham, the 2012 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient, began his training at the Civic Light Opera Academy and the Creative and Performing Arts High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He continued his dance studies in New York, receiving a BFA from SUNY Purchase and an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

  • Anna Thompson

    Anna is a passionate educator and lifelong learner. Anna currently teaches creative movement, pre-ballet, improvisation, modern, and jazz at Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh and Ballet Academy of Pittsburgh. She is a graduate of Point Park University, a certified Power Pilates teacher, and reiki practitioner. Anna has worked extensively with the Pillow Project, performing in spaces and places as unique and varied as Paris, France and The Carrie Furnace in Braddock, Pa.

    Born in Mutare, Zimbabwe and currently a resident of New York City, Nora Chipaumire has been challenging stereotypes of Africa and the black performing body, art, and aesthetic for the past decade. She has studied dance in many parts of the world including Africa (Senegal, Burkina Faso, Kenya, and South Africa), Cuba, Jamaica and the U.S. A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe's School of Law, Chipaumire holds an M.A. in Dance and M.F.A. in Choreography and Performance from Mills College (CA).

  • Nicole Jones

    A native of N. Huntingdon, Pa., Nicole Jones holds a BA in Dance and in History from Point Park University. She began her training with Laurel Youth Ballet and later studied with Kristen Brandt-McDaniel. With Point Park University, Nicole was in the 2010 finalist ensemble section of the Youth American Grand Prix, and performed at the Joyce Theatre for the Martha Graham and University Partner’s Showcase in 2012.

    Staycee R. Pearl started training at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey American Dance Center of New York City respectively. She left New York to perform with CORE Performance Company of Atlanta Georgia, and returned to New York, after four years, to pursue a career as a solo-performing artist.

    Melissa is a Pittsburgh native whose Caribbean family has always encouraged her express herself through movement. Having trained and studied in various artistic venues including the Lorraine Busch Dance Center, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Alvin Ailey School, she now performs with REED DANCE (formerly the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble).

    Kate Watson-Wallace is a choreographer and visual artist. She has received numerous awards for her choreography including: A Pew Fellowship in the Arts in Choreography, two Map Fund Grants and a Doris Duke Exploration grant through Creative Capital, multiple grants from the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage through Dance Advance, The PA Council on the Arts, The Independence Foundation and Penn PAT.
